The dangers of Chinese drywall

I’ve have recently come across some worrying information regarding the use of Chinese drywall in home construction and its affects on the health of the occupants. This type of building material was widely used by construction companies during the American housing boom during 2006 and 2007, this was because standard drywall was in short supply due to the amount of new homes being built. An alternative was needed and Chinese drywall seemed to fit the bill perfectly, it was cheap and plentiful and just as effective as standard drywall.
Unfortunately for the people who now own and live in these homes containing Chinese drywall, there have been some serious problems coming from this kind of drywall. One of the most worrying effects that have been discovered recently is the presence of a toxic and corrosive gas, experts have remarked that when released the gas reacts with moisture in the air, and this in turn is corroding metal pipes and electrical wiring. Some homeowners have also reported that their air conditioning systems have been affected, as well as their homes electrical systems which could be a major fire hazard.
But it is not just the home that is at risk from this toxic gas, some people have reported a nasty smell in their homes and health problems being reported include, breathing difficulties, earache and sore throats and nose bleeds.
Things have been so bad that in some cases doctors are advising people to leave their homes and live elsewhere in order to protect their health and the health of their family. These homes that have been affected are less than 10 years old but with the drywall letting off a nasty smell that is hazardous to health and damaging to the contents of the home, these homes are going to be very difficult to sell, if not impossible.
