Body Modification For Veggies!

I am trying something a little back strange in the garden this summer! Vegetable body modification! The idea is that around mid june-july if you are growing pumpkins or gourds or anything similar then you give the vegetables a tattoo ready for Hallowe'en come October 31st! I suppose it is actually a bit more like scarification than it is tattooing, but anyway. It's super easy and hopefully, come October I will have something to show you!

You take a pin or even a thumbtack and a template of your design or message. Use the pin to etch out the details on the surface of your pumpkin, but be sure not to dig out any skin in case it gets infected or some bugs move it! Just scratch it on the surface – the pumpkin will 'bleed' a watery substance! As the pumpkin grows and turns orange the etching will grow into a raised scar and your pumpkin will be hardcore with it's own body modification!

Here are some examples I found online!

Basement flooding and wet carpet

People living in the suburban always have a basement in their houses and mostly it keeps the house neater and makes room for the stuff that do not find place in the house. Basement as the dictionary would tell us is the lowermost portion of a structure partly or wholly below ground level; often used for storage. Now we live in a world of uncertainty and the natural calamities can never be stopped by humans from occurring. Natural calamities like flood often visit several countries of the earth every year, more than ones in some countries. People often keep their carpets in their basements. Once the flood visits, there is not much time to take the wet carpet out of the basement, and keep it in a safer place because once the flood visits, people remain busy in saving their own lives rather than saving carpets. However, once the calamity is over and they find their precious carpet all wet and devoured with water, they feel dishearten and they wish to save their carpets.

It is important to call upon a professional team for help in such matters. The team may not be able to retrieve the wet carpet totally, sometimes they cannot save the padding but they manage to give back the carpet to their owners in usable conditions which is more than enough for the owners as they know it well, something is better than nothing. The team is so efficient in doing their jobs and they take it their sole duty to heal those wet carpet and bless the owners with their precious carpets. These carpets need to be chemically tested as there can be mold growing in them. As they need to be chemically tested, one certainly cannot do the job without professional help. They need the specialized team in order to get better results and to get mold free carpet. The carpet would be in a devastated form as it was affected by the flood itself, so the cure procedure has to be effective and done seriously. Flood cannot be prevented but the carpet certainly can by the help of the special team who devote their full attention in order to provide their customers with care and promises safety for a better life.

Heart of the Home

In my house, the kitchen is the place to come early in the morning. All the family members together and fortunately often have breakfast together. Here the important things in life are discussed and all take part in the daily lives of others. It's called family. This important meeting place for the family also is a center of the house always cozy and inviting, he must, but also functional.

Cooking is fun, especially when you prepare food together. Children are always excited when they take part in the kitchen allowed. You want to cook not just for Christmas cookies when it should be. So you have to adapt to the needs of the kitchen and set up the spacious kitchen. Beautiful kitchen furniture you can order online. The Internet can also look after the children with the offer, without that they must be kept under constant supervision in a furniture store. This protects the nerves. But a kitchen planner can also be invited into the house, it helps to measure the kitchen. Thus the sophisticated equipment quickly, efficiently and specifically found.

Cooking with family is always fun! There's nothing better than to spend time together by doing something for each other. The prepared food tastes twice as good and is healthy. The little ones are not fast food to ask if they will only be taken seriously and help in cooking allowed. Cooking in your own kitchen can become the event for the whole family. The more important it is, before buying a new kitchen furniture all the family members involved in the planning process. The new kitchen is to plan carefully not only the responsibility of the parents, because in the center of the apartment or house to live all together.

The perfect kitchen for the family must not be easy. With the right choice of furniture style can conjure flair and atmosphere in the kitchen. Then not only the whole family feels comfortable in the kitchen, but all guests will love it in the living room instead of quality time to spend in the cozy kitchen. The kitchen was and remains the center of the house.

Handling Household Mold

Household fungus can expose your family members to serious health issues. Their colors range from black, brown, grey or brown. We have some like the mucor, penicilium and also the black mould which is very dangerous. One can easily detect the presence of mould in their house if it has a stale or musty smell. If the mould is not cleaned, your loved ones may suffer from some of the below listed symptoms which if ignored can result to dangerous health effects:

  • Sneezing
  • Running nose
  • Itchy eyes or nose
  • Mild or severe headaches
  • Asthma
  • Respiratory problems etc

Individuals with a strong immune system will be able to survive comfortably in such areas unlike those with low immune systems like the old people, young children and the sick. It does not only cause danger to our health but also destroys the surface that they are growing on. Remember to always take protective measures when cleaning. You can use goggles, protective masks or even gloves when you are doing this. There are many different places in your house that you can find household fungus growing, if you make such a discovery then please seek professional mold remediation. Below are some of the places that mould grows and how one can take care of the problem.

a) Cupboards and refrigerators-All you need to do is to empty it from time to time.
b) Shower places and basements-You can remove the mould on your shower by using sprays that are specially designed to remove mould. However; you can do it by wiping. You can improve the ventilation of your bath room to enhance proper circulation of air.

BLACK MOLD

It can really affect the individuals living in the house and should be dealt with immediately it appears since it produces toxins. They grow in areas without light or circulating air. If you do not take care of the problem, they continue growing. However, when dealing with black mould, it is important to know what it really involves. This is because it is toxic. You won’t be able to solve the problem of black mould by just spraying chemicals on it. When cleaning areas with black mould, ensure that the area has been sealed to avoid spores from travelling to other rooms.
After the whole process of cleaning, it is important to now know the source of the problem. Mould growth is caused by moisture or water. You need to take care of the problem by making necessary repairs since mould cannot survive in an area without moisture. You can also settle on the idea of purchasing a dehumidifier or you can use other methods to make sure that the amount of moisture has been minimized in your house.

Some of the best home remedies to household fungus are chlorine bleach, hydrogen peroxide, borax powder, white vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice, ammonia.

However, other people settle on the idea of calling professional mold remediation specialists to do the job for them at a fee.

Finding My Domestic Goddess

Some people seem to effortlessly be able to manage a home and a family and a job without breaking a sweat! They have home cooked meals, immaculate houses and spend lots of quality time with the family! Where am I going wrong? I am always exhausted, I throw meals together at the last minute and I never have enough clean clothes! I need some kind of domestic intervention!

My friend has already volunteered to do the honors! She is like Martha Stewart. She says that first things first we need to audit my kitchen! I have heard of no such thing before, but she is super organized so I'm fine with taking her word for it! Apparently this means she is going to help me not only clean my kitchen top to bottom – goodbye lids with no matching tupperwares – help me organize my cupboards and audit my pantry! We are going to throw away expired goods and take an inventory of what I have. Then we are going to meal plan for a full month and she is going to help me do shopping lists so I can get all of the ingredients for that meal plan. I really like this idea. I never know what to cook and I always end up throwing stuff out which has gone bad. She told me it not only saves times and makes sure we each healthy meals, it also saves money! I'm all for that.

am not delusional. This kitchen audit is not going to make me into a domestic goddess over night. I know it will take work to stick to the plan. However, if I can stick to it for several weeks, then I will have her help me do another room of the house. It is my aim that come the holidays this year my house will run like clockwork and I won't have to do that mid November panic when Thanksgiving rolls around! Anyone fancy doing a Kitchen audit with me?

Body Art Bachelor Pad

When I am decorating a room, I love to find interesting curios and knick knacks to accessorize it. I get bored with the usual candles, vases, photographs and flower arrangements so I like to experiment with more unusual accent pieces. For example, my lounge has antique opera glasses and a globe on one side table and a vintage hat box on another. I like little quirky details like that. I'd rather my ornamental details were things people wanted to pick up and examine!

That's why I am super excited about the prospect of handling my little brother's bedroom decoration! He and 2 of his friends just purchased a house share and he has asked me to help with the interior design. I've already started to pick up some interesting bits and pieces! We are making his bedroom really cool and contemporary. Lot's of chrome and black and white, with just a few splashes of color. Now one thing my brother loves is body art. I think if it wasn't for his job he might be one of those guys covered in tattoos and piercings, but because he works in an office, he has stuck to 2 easy to hide designs and an earring. That's why I decided to give his room a bit of a bodymodification vibe to it!

I've purchased some vintage style tattooist posters which I'll mount and frame to hang on the walls and also manged to source an antique tattoo gun, which I'm putting in a box frame along with some artfully arranged pots of ink. While I was looking online for ideas I came across a number of stores selling body plugs and related accessories and some of them are art in themselves! There are such clever designs. I have ordered a few pairs of the most unusual pieces along with a stainless steel stretching kit and I'm going to make a little art display in a second box frame to go with the tattoo themed one.

His friends are already jealous and one of them asked if I'll help him with his room too. This is going to be one kick ass bachelor pad! Look out ladies!

Is Your Home Healthy?

We all want our home to be perfect. We work on the décor, on the furnishings and on the yard hoping to create that dream home for the family. We think about all of these things a great deal. How many of you have spent hours looking for just the right carpet for the smallest bedroom, the perfect shade of paint for your kitchen or just the right lamps for the lounge? These are the things that really matter to us. The things we really care about. However, in spending so much time on the trappings that come with dressing the home we might just be overlooking something much more important. Have you even considered whether or not your home is actually healthy?

I expect that the answer is no, and I also expect you are now asking yourself how can a home be unhealthy? Well the answer is simple! There are a number of different things which could be making your home unhealthy for you and the other inhabitants. Unseen dangers which could be affecting your home include lead based paint, asbestos, toxic mold and many others. If any of these are present within your home then it could be having a detrimental effect on the quality of the air you are breathing.

Mold in particular is highly dangerous. There are several different species each with their own risks.

Stachybotrys
The Stachybotrys species of mold thrives in water damaged building materials including wall insulation, sheet rock, wallpaper and ceiling tiles. It tends to go unnoticed for long periods. This particular mold is black and slimy in appearance and produces mycotoxins which are extremely toxic and have been linked to cancer. These are also known to suppress the human body's natural defenses against infections.

Aspergillus
Another common household mold is the Aspergillus species which can grow at an alarming rate on a huge number of surfaces. When this type of mold is inhaled it can grow inside the lungs causing various diseases.

Cladosporium
The Cladosporium variety of mold is usually found on fiberglass and appears dark green or black with a velour like or chalky texture This type of mold causes skin lesions, sinus infection, asthma and respiratory disease.

I would recommend that any home owner have a professional service come in and perform a mold detection sweep just to be on the safe side. A healthy home is a happy home!
